Waterkant St Townhouse
Where in the world?
Cape Town, South Africa
I had a flying weekend visit to Cape Town back in 2013 to visit my ill uncle and stayed with a friend at his town house in De Waterkant. This was an area I had no idea about (usually staying in the Southern Suburbs). I was enamoured with the place, so central, in the middle of everything but with it’s own distinct character, akin to a village in the city. With colourful, character housing, a mixture of vintage and modern architecture and great eateries and bars.
Whilst over with family 2 years later and having a braai & wine with friends on their roof terrace in De Waterkant, I wondered where else in the world was it possible to see (and within walking distance) the City, Table Mountain, harbour and ocean all from one spot (with a great climate to boot). Simply impossible to resist! Under the influence of some great pinotage I was smitten and we (my friend & I) decided then to buy a place there to keep a foothold in a special part of the world! We found a team who could renovate the property for us and subsequently furnish it with some suitably eclectic pieces!
